FACEIT organizers have revealed details about Elo calibration and resets for Season 9

The FACEIT tournament platform has published an official guide to the rating reset mechanics ahead of the start of Season 9. The developers have changed the Elo point distribution algorithm to reduce rating inflation among the top players.

The organizers announced that in the upcoming competitive cycle, the updated reset system will take three key factors into account. When calculating the starting position, the platform will analyze win rate, current rating, and the player’s individual performance over the last 50 matches. For the vast majority of users, the reset will be less severe compared to Season 8.

At the same time, players with the highest Elo will face a steep point reduction to stabilize the ladder. Players with a rating above 3,500 who have performed well will experience a significant reset, allowing them to remain at the top of the competitive standings.

Players with an Elo rating below 2,001 who have excellent statistics in calibration matches will have a chance to climb higher than their previous position. In cases where a player has fewer than 20 wins in Season 8, the system will perform a deep rating reset.

Earlier, FACEIT launched a user vote for the map for Season 9, whose competitive cycle will begin on August 5, 2026. On that same day, the winning option from the poll will officially appear in the general list of available bomb-planting maps.
