100 Thieves coach Lucas “gla1ve” Rossander spoke in an interview on Stake Pulse Beat II about the team’s map pool and their match against HEROIC, and also discussed the significance of qualifying for the Major for the younger players on the roster.
We’ve been working a lot on Inferno lately, and our matches show that we’re making progress. Of course, our defense could have been a little better. ...> But on the attack, the team performed excellently, playing a composed and methodical game. There was nothing extraordinary, but everyone tried to use grenades wisely and execute their aim.
To be honest, being able to play any map is great, since the veto system has taken on a whole new dimension and now we can surprise our opponents. The entire process of selecting and banning maps can stump the opponent, because they won’t know exactly what to pick or what to prepare for.
This is especially important for the younger players on our roster, partly because of the chance to get in-game stickers with their names on them. I remember my first sticker—it was really cool. And it’s not about the money at all, since back then, stickers didn’t bring in much income.
Earlier, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander said that 100 Thieves’ management reached out to him shortly after he decided to become a coach. Together with Howard “rain” Nygard, who took on the role of IGL, he helped select young players for the roster.
