MAJ3R: “G2 has an excellent captain—I really like how huNter is performing in his new role.”

Aurora Gaming captain Engin “MAJ3R” Kupeli spoke in an interview at IEM Cologne Major 2026 about his team’s loss to Team Spirit and shared his expectations for the upcoming match against G2 Esports.
On the loss to Team Spirit
Last night we had a tough match against Spirit, who are in excellent form. We took the first map, Dust2, and could have closed out the best-of-three series on Anubis, but we played poorly on defense, which prevented us from making a comeback on offense. On the decisive map, Nuke, our opponents were much stronger. We put up a good fight, but now we need to put this match behind us and focus on the upcoming match against G2.
On the upcoming match
I think we’ll continue playing the Counter-Strike we’re used to. It’s important for us to win and show quality teamwork. We always strive for that, even though it’s not always easy. I hope the guys show their best side today, and we can win.
On G2 Esports’ strengths
G2 has an excellent captain—I really like how huNter is performing in his new role. Plus, this team features smart and individually strong players. Matches against G2 are always intense. Nevertheless, I hope we win this one.
Aurora Gaming lost to Team Spirit 1-2 in the second round of the third stage of the IEM Cologne Major 2026. The Turkish team is now facing G2 Esports—if they win, MAJ3R will be one step away from advancing to the tournament’s playoffs.
