Ari on 1win Team in Dota 2: “Our level dropped in the second half of the season.”
1win Team (Iron Wing) support player Matthew “Ari” Walker, in an interview following their elimination from The International 2026, summed up the season for the team and identified the reason for their defeat.
On the team’s season
It’s true that our performance dropped off in the second half of the season, which is pretty sad—we wanted to do well at The International 2026 and were full of confidence at the start. This result doesn’t take away from our strong start to the season, and we’re very proud of our accomplishments; overall, I think we had a good year.
On the reason for the loss
I wouldn’t say it was luck, because in the end, the best team wins, but I felt like we were finding our form as the tournament went on, and we were confident. I think we could have beaten any team here on a good day—it just wasn’t our day today.
1win Team lost to BetBoom Team (BoomBoys) in the first round of the lower bracket of The International 2026 playoffs. The team finished in 7th–8th place and earned $129,327. Team Liquid and Team Falcons are facing off right now.
