Brazilian coach Filipe “Astini” Astini Ribeiro announced during a personal livestream that he had been removed from his position at PlayTime.
About 5–10 days before the boot camp, I said, “Listen, this doesn’t make sense.” In the end, they cut me, even though I hadn’t even received a contract yet.
We didn’t have any issues with the organization. But I could see that the club didn’t have the resources to sustain itself in the long run. Plus, KJ and fcr had already signed contracts with them, so there weren’t many options.
I think it was worth a shot. If I’d led the team to DreamLeague, the project would have continued and become a long-term one. Honestly, I think it was worth the effort. I think I did everything right. What do you think?
But we didn’t qualify, and the organization said, “Listen, I’m not even going to send you a contract then. Thanks a lot.” <…>
If you look, I recorded a video about PlayTime where I said: the team won’t start competing for titles right away. We’re talking about 6–9 months. I don’t expect the team to take off right from the start. Bottega is 17 years old—he’s incredibly talented, but he needs to be developed.
Starting with lesser-known players and gradually building the team—that’s exactly what I wanted at PlayTime. That’s exactly it. But the club had a different vision—and I respect that: they needed faster results.
I was let go: the results didn’t meet the organization’s expectations. I wanted to continue in the second division [DreamLeague], but it didn’t work out.
I don’t have any offers. After all, I haven’t announced my departure yet because I’m still hoping to participate in the second division somehow. I can’t reveal too much information on this matter.
I was removed from PlayTime. The organization kicked me out; the players didn’t even know—they weren’t consulted. This was the organization’s decision.
PlayTime has not officially announced Astini’s departure. The team failed to qualify for DreamLeague Season 30, finishing third in the South American qualifiers. Skyreavers, featuring David “Parker” Nijo Flores, qualified for the championship from the region. In the final, the team defeated Amaru Gaming 3–1.
