Fayde on the third position in Dota 2: “There are a lot of variables here, so I’m enjoying this role right now.”

GamerLegion offlaner Viktor “Fayde” Zuev spoke about the third position in an interview at The International 2026 and highlighted common challenges faced by players in that role.

On his personal playstyle

I think, overall, I like looking for patterns. I sort of analyze my own gameplay or that of other players and look for ways to improve.

On the third position

I think it’s a pretty complex role because, depending on the hero you’re playing, you have to do a lot of different things. For example, you need to go for runes, farm, play aggressively on the lane, or—conversely—prevent opponents from pressuring you if you feel they might do so. Overall, there are a lot of variables here, which is why I enjoy this role right now.

On Common Problems Faced by Third-Position Players

I think you sometimes see people constantly getting caught out or dying frequently. Usually, this isn’t just because they’re playing too aggressively or too passively. It’s simply that they’re not in the right frame of mind to understand how the game is unfolding. I’d say the game is moving too fast for them.
