Insania explained the main objectives of playing in the fifth position

Former pro player Aiden “Insania” Sarkoy appeared on Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner’s YouTube channel to explain the purpose of the laning phase as a support and discuss how to effectively handle neutral creep camps.
On the purpose of the laning phase
Insania: The point is, if you look at the laning phase—and I think Quinn was trying to explain this to you—the goal of the laning phase is to get more gold than the enemy team. That’s the whole point: why are we standing in the lane? Why are we last-hitting creeps? Why are we finishing off creeps? Why are we harassing the enemy? Why are we casting abilities at them? The whole point of all this is that by the 10-minute mark, I want to have more gold than the enemy team. That’s the entire goal of everything that’s happening. If you really want to get better at Dota 2, you need to understand that gold is the most important factor in the game. Everything a support does is either to help your core heroes get more gold or to prevent the enemy from getting gold.
About neutral camps
Insania: We don’t need to count the exact number, but there are a lot of jungle camps. And in an ideal world, all of these camps are farmed every minute.
SirActionSlacks: Every minute?
Insania: Every minute, yes. That’s how you’d optimize your gold farming. You’d farm all three lanes and all the camps every minute, because that’s when they respawn. When you stack camps, you’re essentially buying yourself time. You don’t spend 30–40 seconds killing a camp—you stack it, then come back and collect everything later. In other words, you do it all in one go. You clear three camps at once. That way, you make your farming more efficient, right? <...>
I want to talk about how, after any movement or action, you should always check the timer and ask yourself, “Is there anything I can stack?” It’s a habit you need to develop. You finish an action—and immediately check the timer. For example, it’s 0:40 right now—is there a camp nearby that I can gank? <...> And then you have a whole minute left that you can use. Can you place wards? Is there anything you need to do on the map? Is there a spot where it would be useful for you to be? Can you defend someone without using teleport? We want to avoid using teleport as much as possible.
On wasting time during a match
Insania: I’d say that wasting time in a good spot is much better than whatever else you might be doing there, so don’t overthink it. But yeah, timing your camp stacks is a good thing—it’s a sort of fallback plan. If you can go and stack something, then yeah, you should definitely do that instead of anything else.
Earlier, Aiden “Insania” Sarkoi spoke about the influence of Damien “kpii” Sao-jing Chok on Aurora Gaming’s results, discussed the Polish and Swedish rosters for the 2026 Esports Nations Cup, and, together with Quinn “Quinn” Callahan and Austin “Cap” Walsh, discussed Patch 7.41d, noting the importance of coaching, the strength of individual players, and the minimal changes in the update.
