miCKe on Team Liquid at the 2026 Esports World Cup: “We’re just taking it one game at a time; we don’t have any specific expectations.”

Team Liquid carry Michael “miCKe” Wu, in an interview following their victory over L1GA TEAM in the group stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup in Dota 2, spoke about the team’s adaptation to the changing meta and shared his expectations for the tournament.
On the team’s performance
From my perspective, we had a great bootcamp, but when you perform well at bootcamp and then arrive at the tournament—the meta shifts a bit, and what worked for us at bootcamp didn’t work here. So now we’re adapting and figuring out what’s going on.
On the meta shift at the tournament
This was a pretty serious issue for us because everything that worked at boot camp stopped working here. We had to completely rethink our drafts and discussions, and approach the heroes differently—figuring out how to interact with them—compared to how we’d handled things at boot camp. So it wasn’t smooth sailing, but we’re still figuring it out.
On expectations for the tournament
We’re just taking it one game at a time; we don’t have any specific expectations. We’re trying to do our best and hope to go as far as we can.
Earlier, Michael talked about the importance of buying Aghamin’s Scepter on Kez: “Without [the Scepter], only four abilities will be available because everything will be on cooldown. I’d say it’s a must-have item.”
