Sheever on SirActionSlacks: “He has incredible energy and always generously shares it with everyone around him.”

Yorien “Sheever” van der Heyden, host of the English-language broadcast studio, reflected on her philosophy and optimism at work during a podcast on the Esports Awards YouTube channel, and shared her thoughts on Jake “SirActionSlacks” Canner.
On her philosophy as a host
I think I can be straightforward about this now, although ten years ago my answer would have been completely different. If I were asked to describe myself—perhaps in a professional context, but to be honest, I try to act the same way in my personal life as well—I’d say this: I like it when other people are happy, when they can feel comfortable and be themselves.
And I think these qualities come across especially naturally in my role as a host. That’s probably what the main goal should be. My main goal is to help those around me open up, to let them show their best side. In the past, I probably did this intuitively, but now I approach it more consciously—I make a conscious effort to ensure that everyone can present themselves in the best possible light.
On an Optimistic Outlook
I think it helps that I’m naturally a big smiler and really tend to see the bright side of things. My job is to say a few words and then listen to what others have to say. Others are very serious: they need to say a lot of clever things and shine with their intellect, but I don’t have to—I can just be happy. And I try… I like to think of myself as a pretty optimistic person. But I don’t think I’m number one in that regard—ODPixel would definitely argue with me if I said that. In my opinion, he’s probably the most cheerful talent around, but he’s not on the panel. So it looks like the crown is passing to me.
About SirActionSlacks
I’ve hosted so many shows with SirActionSlacks. We worked together on some of the very first DreamLeague events, and just recently, in December, I co-hosted a stage with him at a BLAST tournament. He’s definitely the most fun person to work with. He has incredible energy and always generously shares it with everyone around him. So, that’s probably the simplest answer I can give.
Earlier, Yorien “Sheever” van der Heyden talked about what motivates her in her work: “I think it was the sheer enjoyment of the process that helped me push forward, because there was more than enough negativity and hate for literally everything you can imagine.”
