Coach Moody: “To become outstanding, you need to have passion and acquire useful skills in a wide variety of games.”

Team Falcons PH assistant coach Mohammad “Coach Moody” Samal, appearing on the 8G podcast on the Wolf Casts YouTube channel, reflected on the need for global bans in the MPL and shared a method for becoming the best player in any discipline.
On Draft Mistakes
After the matches and our victory over Team Liquid PH, I learned an important lesson: stick to the game plan you’ve prepared. Don’t pick heroes or try to counter-pick opponents based solely on your gut feeling. It’s much safer and better to develop strategies that will yield positive results in the majority of cases.
On the Need for Global Bans in the MPL
When I worked as a coach for a team competing in the MDL league, global bans seemed like a good idea to me. But now I don’t like this system. The MPL meta is incredibly diverse, with a wide selection of heroes—assassins, tanks. I’m surprised that no one has tried picking two fighters at once; in my opinion, even that could work.
The MPL probably doesn’t need a brave draft. In the current meta, there are plenty of heroes to choose from.
On How to Become One of the Best Players
Relying on just one game won’t make you great. I’ve noticed that many of our esports players don’t limit themselves to just MLBB. They’re also interested in other games. To become outstanding, you need to have passion and acquire the necessary skills across a wide variety of games. It’s not enough to focus on just one game, nor is it enough to simply do your job and meet the requirements expected of you.
Earlier, Coach Moody analyzed the mistakes the team made in their MPL Philippines Season 17 matches against Omega Esports and ONIC Philippines on the 8G podcast, and suggested that esports players need to be mentally prepared for their opponents.
