Sunset lover: “We were very well prepared for VP: in terms of drafts and gameplay. That’s why it was 3-0.”

Team Spirit players Kemiran “Sunset lover” Kochkarov and Alexander “Hiko” Pak spoke about their victory over Virtus.pro in a post-match interview during the MLBB Continental Championships Season 7, shared details about the team’s downtime, and admitted that they would prefer the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 to be held in Riyadh rather than Paris.
On the match against Virtus.pro
Sunset lover: I wouldn’t say it was easy. The first match was pretty tough. We had… Yeah, we won everything, but at times we got a little sloppy, made some mistakes—it was undisciplined play. We played and played and played, waited and waited and waited—we waited thirty minutes. We decided to do something, it worked out, and that was it—we won. Well, Kid Bomba died, it didn’t work out. But Zaur decided to pull off a highlight, picked up Lord, and with that Lord, I don’t know... With that Lord, it was like ten people—the Power Rangers united in the mid lane; it was impossible to lose there anymore.
The next games, yeah, were easier. As for Verso Time, VP beat them. Definitely, VP were stronger, at least last week. How it’ll go today—I don’t know, the next match will show. Maybe Verso have lost their form altogether, maybe something else. And we were very well prepared for VP: in terms of drafts, in terms of gameplay. That’s why 3-0.
On the absence of team players in the personal esports rankings
Sunset lover: If we’d won even one international tournament, the top 20 would’ve been a breeze—we’d have breezed right in. But since we’re not in the championships, what can you do? Seven World Championships have passed, seven teams with five players each—they’re the ones making the top 20.
Hiko: Yeah, I don’t think [I’d put Sunset lover in the top 20]. There aren’t enough achievements.
Sunset lover: You’re laughing, but seriously. If we’d won at least one tournament—Riyadh or “Emku”—that’d be it; we could’ve easily made it. But since we haven’t won, there’s no point in talking about it.
On downtime between games
Hiko: Sometimes we go out for shawarma, at this bootcamp, specifically. Sometimes we play some games in solo queue. Basically, there aren’t many interesting activities. Otherwise, generally speaking, if it’s some kind of Asian boot camp, we usually go somewhere on our day off—some kind of active recreation. But here in Moscow at boot camp, there aren’t that many different options.
Sunset lover: Well, we have an evening where we review our practice matches and our mistakes. That’s the kind of review night we have. We don’t really get around to watching anime.
I don’t think anyone here watches anything special—it’s not like we have time for that. We have a lot of prep work; we need to play practice matches, tournaments too—we don’t just play MCC. The tournament we’ve been here for ended two weeks ago. We also have to play solo queue, level up our heroes, prepare, review games, analyze them—all that stuff. Time to relax. Go eat; sometimes we go outside for a little walk, if the weather’s nice. Last week the weather was awful; we didn’t go out once. This week the guys have already gone out a couple of times, and I went out too because the weather is gorgeous—a little on the hot side, which I like.
On hosting the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 in Europe
Hiko: I’m speaking for Sunset lover and myself. Of course, it’s nice to have a tournament in Europe, but our whole team would prefer a tournament in Riyadh.
Sunset lover: Yeah, for us, Riyadh is, you know, already like a second home. But Europe… We’d have to get visas, and there are all kinds of complications. I don’t know what to expect in Paris—what the climate is like, the temperature, and so on. What the rules are. You have to look into all that. I have no idea what it’s like there, and I’m just too lazy to deal with all that. Plus, there’s the flight. You see, we’re heading to Asia now for a boot camp, and from Asia it’d take us a year to fly to Paris. But to Riyadh, we could take a direct flight, no layovers, seven or eight hours. Easy to get there.
Team Spirit defeated Virtus.pro in the upper bracket final of the MLBB Continental Championships Season 7 playoffs with a score of 3-0. The Sunset lover squad advanced to the competition’s grand final and secured their spot in the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026.
