Thea: “I realized that lighting can vary greatly across different segments of our work.”

Tournament hosts Denisse Valdesanch and Thea Franco recalled on the 8G podcast for the Wolf Casts YouTube channel how they got used to working on the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and admitted that they feel sad when interviewing losing teams.
On adapting to work on the pro scene
Thea: In the early days, I didn’t know how to handle it. When I worked as a reporter for student leagues, we had to write news stories in English using very formal, business-like language. When I started covering Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournaments, I had to switch to a more casual style of communication with the players. And I was surprised—for me, it was something unusual, something new. I realized that the style of coverage can vary greatly across different segments of our work.
Denisse: Yes, and I like that. I also had to adapt to the new conditions and rethink my approach to work. I started conducting interviews differently, and now I consider them my strong suit. The reports also had to be changed to match the spirit of the pro scene, to feel a connection with the players. After all, the players don’t know my habits or the communication gestures I’d picked up earlier—all of that had to be changed.
On interviewing the losing team
Denisse: This was my first interview with a losing team. It was tough. It was a super fun Saturday with three matches. I think I felt drained the whole day. The atmosphere during the interview was really oppressive. It hurt me to see the players trying to hold it together during the conversation; it was quite a sad sight. It’s hard to act cheerful on stage when you see something like that. After I saw the guys off, I thanked God that it was over.
On appearing in future tournaments
Denisse: We’ll be staying for a few more seasons. I’m officially announcing this.
Wolf: You too, Thea?
Thea: Yes, I’ll be back for the next competitions too.
Earlier, hosts Thea and Denisse discussed on the 8G podcast the challenges they faced while researching the history of the MLBB pro scene and reflected on the role of lighting crew members in the mobile MOBA community.
