In an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026, paiN Gaming captain Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt reflected on the lack of a break during the offseason, assessed the atmosphere within his team, and discussed the Brazilian squad’s goals.
On the lack of a summer break
We didn’t really have a break. Right now, we need to do everything we can to earn more VRS points. That’s exactly why we’re participating in several tournaments in a row. The whole team is focused on the next Major. <...> The lack of rest has hardly affected our morale.
On the mood at paiN Gaming
Previously, the atmosphere within the team wasn’t very good due to mediocre results. However, we’re now gradually regaining both our former form and our confidence.
On the team’s goals
It’s important for us to compete at the PGL Singapore Major 2026. Our main goal is to return to the top 10 in the world rankings and compete on equal footing with the best teams. To do that, we need more consistency. Of course, our recent results are far from what we’d like, but right now every team in the top 20 is capable of putting up a strong fight against one another. We’re constantly working to improve.
Yesterday, paiN Gaming defeated Wildcard 2-1 in the group stage of the 2026 Esports World Cup. Today, biguzera’s team will face The MongolZ—this match will take place at 2:00 p.m. Moscow time.
