BetBoom Team captain Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov summarized the team’s performance at the 2026 Thunderpick World Championship in the club’s YouTube vlog, discussing their boot camp preparations and the players’ mental state.
To be honest, it’s hard to call this a full-fledged boot camp. It was more like just a get-together for the guys—we didn’t have that many days, just 3–4 days. So it was more like a mini-boot camp where we talked about our—let’s say—pressing issues, the problems we’d been facing, and everyone tried to address them. It’s hard to say we accomplished a huge amount of work. It was more a matter of refining some ideas, remembering certain things, and working through the problems that each of us was facing individually. I had some individual assignments, so to speak, and we worked on them—I’m not sure. I saw some progress for myself—I found it, or rather, I felt my way toward a certain direction. That’s what Fierce wants, for example. And I hope I’m not mistaken about that, let’s put it that way.
I think mental toughness is what matters in any sport, no matter what. <...> We’re finally heading into the tournament with a full roster, and we want to show what we’ve been practicing. It’s as if we can quickly get angry or upset over some minor moments in the game—like a few lost rounds—and our mental game might waver because we want to show that we’ve been working hard, that we’re capable, and that we can play at a high level. And in a way, I think that ended up backfiring on us.
I’d say I’m feeling a little drained, because I just don’t have the energy left. We’re somewhat satisfied with our performance at the tournament because we’ve made progress in how we play. And judging by how we played before, this is a huge victory for us. Unfortunately, we lost our first major LAN final in BetBoom’s history, and for me, it was actually my first final in the last few years—four years, to be exact. So thank you for your support, and I hope that in the future, at upcoming tournaments, we’ll bring you even more joy.
