FUT Esports coach András “coolio” Ferchak spoke on the Snake & Banter podcast about Álvaro “SunPayus” García joining the team, his communication style, and his impact on the team’s defensive play.
He had to fight hard to get on the team. And we even held tryouts—to be honest, that’s no secret. We just wanted to make sure we were bringing in the right player. But yeah, everything’s looking good so far.
I wouldn’t say our team has changed much, but his communication skills are incredible. Given the experience we had and the people I’d worked with before, we obviously had young players: I had to build the team, teach them how to play, and they just followed my ideas and kept learning. As crazy as it sounds, we’re still a new team for Tier 1, even though time flies so fast. Because this year we’ve played—I don’t know—six or seven tournaments or something like that, but I think we still need time. The players need time to get used to everything, and we’re improving our game from tournament to tournament. You can feel it, and we’re learning from this experience. SunPayus brings something that we were obviously missing.
He’s a consistent player in open positions on the CT side. The kills he gets make our rounds much easier, I’d say, because we can trust him. If he’s holding a corner, he’ll hit the opponent. In addition, he communicates very well in mid-round situations. He needs to determine how we should position ourselves, whether we need to throw a smoke, or move somewhere. He’s very good at coordinating CT actions, and I think that’s the biggest help we could have gotten. That’s what we were missing.
Earlier, FUT Esports announced that Álvaro “SunPayus” García had joined its Counter-Strike 2 roster. He replaced Nikita “cmtry” Samoletov and became the team’s new sniper.
