Counter-Strike 2 Update from July 9, 2026: C4 explosion rework, new weapon and sticker collections

Valve has released a Counter-Strike 2 update that revamps C4 explosion mechanics, adds new weapon and sticker collections, updates community maps, and introduces a number of changes to performance, the engine, the Workshop tools, and map scripting.

Gameplay

The effective range and damage radius of C4 explosions have been reworked on all official bomb defusal maps.
- Damage is now calculated based on pre-computed simulation values built into the map.
- The blast shockwave now spreads gradually from the center rather than dealing damage instantly.
- Fixed a bug where selecting a dropped weapon via the buy menu might not complete.
Arsenal
- Two new weapon collections have been added: Spy Tech and Arabesque.
- Two new sticker collections have been added: Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing.
- The Train 2025 and Sport & Field weapon collections have been removed from the Arsenal.
- The Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft sticker collections have been removed from the Arsenal.
Workshop

The Custom Paint Job Extended template has been updated.
- Added the ability to use a separate overlay mask texture.
- Added the ability to separately configure random UV coordinate generation for the overlay and albedo.
Miscellaneous
- Reduced the impact of displaying the bill of materials table on performance.
- Fixed a bug where material blending effects would disappear when zooming in too close to objects.
- The rotation precision of decals has been increased—0.5-degree increments are now available.
Map Scripts
- Added Instance.QueueAfterThinks.
- Added Instance.OnWeaponDrop.
- Added CSWeaponBase.GetOriginalOwner.
- Fixed a crash that occurred when a command name registered via Instance.RegisterCheatCommand matched an existing command.
- Error messages when loading scripts now include the filename and line number.
- Removed support for deprecated vts resources.
Engine
- The engine code has been updated to the latest version of Source 2.
Maps
- The community-created maps Warden, Stronghold, Alpine, and Sanctum have been removed from all game modes.
- The maps Boulder, Fachwerk, and Shelter have been added to the “Competitive,” “Casual,” and “Deathmatch” modes.
- The maps Debris and El Dorado have been added to the “Partners” mode.

- Various clipping fixes have been implemented.

- Fixed a pixel gap at the Outside Tunnel.
- Clipping at the Outside Tunnel has been adjusted.

Inferno
- Fixed clipping that allowed for a pixel boost in Top Mid.
Valve previously released an update for Counter-Strike 2 that included a number of changes to the game files. In addition to technical fixes, the developers also added a new sticker capsule called The Jackass Sticker Capsule to the game.
