100 Thieves coach Lucas “gla1ve” Rossander, in an interview at the 2026 CS2 Esports World Cup, summed up his team’s run at the championship, discussed the roster’s performance on Anubis, and shared the team’s future plans.

On the team’s run at the event

I think we played pretty well in the qualifiers, but in the main stage, our opponents turned out to be much tougher. In the first month of the roster’s existence, we mostly faced Tier 1 teams. We’d also built up a lot of fatigue leading up to this event—we’d been training and playing a lot. We might even have overdone it. Just think about playing three best-of-three series in a single day during the qualifiers. It was an incredibly grueling marathon, and we weren’t able to recover properly afterward. In the future, we need to handle this issue more wisely. We definitely need to analyze this, since it was clear the guys were completely worn out.

On our approach to playing Anubis

I’d say that our aggressive defensive play on Anubis is a credit to both the coaching staff and Gizma’s individual calls. That’s generally our approach to the map: we don’t want to spend every single round in a purely defensive stance. It can be tough to hold positions constantly—you run out of grenades too quickly, and you completely lose control of the map. In situations like that, you have to push right in the middle of the round. That’s why it’s sometimes helpful to play more aggressively early on to gather intel or even end the round right away by catching the opponent off guard. <…>. As I’ve already said, fatigue is taking its toll, and our roster is completely new, so we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

On the team’s future plans

As for our future plans, 100 Thieves’ next event will be the tournament in Stockholm, after which we’ll compete in several open qualifiers. We’ll try to qualify for as many Tier 1 championships as possible, since that will earn us the points we need to make it to the Major. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, and we understand that perfectly well. Right now, the main thing is to reset and get back into top form. The team knows it’s capable of great things, even though we didn’t show anything at all at this major event. It’s terribly disappointing how we played, but there’s nothing we can do about it now.
