Nigma Galaxy support Marun “GH” Merhej, in an interview at The International 2026, discussed the break the team took at the start of the season and commented on the frequent player changes within the team.
Unfortunately, I’m not what I used to be—back when I could just play nonstop for five years straight. I think that changes as you get older. Although I’m not that old yet. It’s just very important to manage burnout properly. Sometimes I didn’t handle it very well, but now it seems like I’m gradually starting to figure it out.
To be honest, I didn’t even turn on my computer. I watched TV shows, spent time with my family, hung out with friends, and did things I never had time for before because of my packed schedule. And now we’re back here.
I’m just trying to adapt to whatever situation we’re put in. Right now we’re playing with Davai and lorenof. They’re very unique people, so sometimes it takes a while to get used to their personalities and playstyles. I think we’ve almost completely adapted by now, so I’m curious to see how this turns out.
First and foremost, I truly believe that in order for a player to feel comfortable and for you to reach a mutual understanding, you need to adapt to them: understand what they like and what they don’t. New players usually come with fresh ideas. That’s why you need to be a good teammate, try to incorporate those ideas, and help your teammates so they feel comfortable and confident. Only then can you share your own ideas, explain what you believe in, and how you see the game.
I think we were going through a difficult phase back then. We didn’t fully understand what exactly was going wrong or how to fix it. But after some time, we decided to bring SumaiL back. I’m glad he’s here. He’s a ray of light in this dark place.
SumaiL’s move to the carry position and lorenof’s shift to mid wasn’t entirely obvious to me at first, because I didn’t immediately see the point of it. But now I understand everything very well. He’s an excellent player and can adapt to anything. He’s played carry a bit in the past, and lorenof is just an incredible mid laner. You’ve seen him play as a stand-in for many teams and perform at an excellent level. So when we made this decision, everything just fell into place, and that’s how this roster came together.
Earlier, esports event host Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner commented on the results of Nigma Galaxy, LGD Gaming, and Team Resilience in the group stage of The International 2026, noting Nigma Galaxy’s advancement to the playoffs and the matchup between Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan.
