G2 Esports captain Nemanja “huNter-” Kovac, in an interview at BLAST Open Porto 2026, assessed the match against Natus Vincere, spoke about Artem “r1nkle” Moroz’s impact on the team, and shared his thoughts on the team’s current form and future goals.
It’s always tough to play against Natus Vincere, and on top of that, we were dealing with our own issues even before this match. However, NAVI hasn’t been in the best of form lately either. We knew we had a chance to win, especially on Inferno, which is why we chose that map. From the outside, it might have looked like it was easy, but in reality, it wasn’t—even playing as the attacking side against them wasn’t simple. I’m glad we managed to win in the end.
He’s a sniper, but he also takes a lot of risks and speaks his mind about what he wants to do. I’m glad he plays on our team; I like that approach. Sometimes, though, he tries to do too much, and then I have to rein him in. But it’s better to have a sniper like that than one who never takes the initiative at all. He’s very independent, especially in the middle of rounds.
Our coach is doing a great job. Together, we try to create the most comfortable conditions possible for r1nkle: we provide him with a bulletproof vest and do everything we can to make him feel confident.
We’re still trailing behind the top teams, but not by much. I think we did everything we could with our previous roster at the IEM Cologne Major 2026, and then r1nkle joined us. When a new player joins the roster, things always get a little more complicated. ...> I believe we’re moving in the right direction now: we’re working hard and discussing various issues within the team. In the match against Team Spirit, it became clear that we were practically unable to put up a fight, but next time we’ll try to perform better. Ever since NertZ joined us, we’ve consistently made it to the tournament playoffs. The next step is to reach the semifinals and finals, and then finally win the trophy.
Earlier, Natus Vincere wrapped up their run at BLAST Open Porto 2026, losing to G2 Esports 0–2. Alexi “Aleksib” Virolainen’s team lost on Ancient—6–13—and on Inferno—10–13. G2 Esports will continue their run in the lower bracket of Group A, where they will later face the winner of the match between Aurora Gaming and M80.
