Independent commented after Fnatic’s elimination from the Esports World Cup 2026: Last Chance Qualifier
Fnatic’s CS2 head coach, Mix “Independent” Silins, commented on his team’s loss in the decisive match of the group stage of the open qualifier for the 2026 Esports World Cup in CS2 on his personal X page.
We were eliminated from the Paris qualifier just one round away from advancing to the main event. Of course, it hurts. The last game overshadows everything we showed throughout the qualifiers—our mental resilience, our approach, and how we adapted to different circumstances.
I’m proud of my guys. Right now, it feels awful, considering how close we were, but we have great material to build on. This qualifier showed me what the team is capable of when we play our game. Our high standards, daily progress, and ambition remain the same.
Keeping our cool in the toughest moments is what we need to work on. We fell apart in the last match, and that’s a good lesson for the future. The guys fought with everything they had, but sometimes that’s just not enough.
I can clearly see what went wrong and which direction we need to head in. The picture is becoming clearer and clearer. We’re still a young team, and I genuinely like what I see in this group. We have a solid foundation to build on.
It’s a mix of emotions tonight, but the future looks promising.
Yesterday, Fnatic lost to K27 in the decisive match of the last-chance qualifier for the 2026 Esports World Cup in CS:2, falling 1–2 in a best-of-3 series. Mix’s “Independent” Silinsh team finished in 5th–8th place and earned $9,500 in prize money.
