Kursy: “I failed at GamerLegion, and I don’t want to fail again.”

3DMAX Rifler Jeremy “Kursy” Gast, in an interview on Stake Ranked Episode 3, commented on the victory over paiN Gaming, discussed his transition to the rifler role, and reflected on his unsuccessful stint with GamerLegion.
On the victory over paiN Gaming
I didn’t play very well yesterday. I think I wasn’t fully engaged in the game. I only played well on Cache, but on the other map I didn’t look my best—I wasn’t playing the way I wanted to at all. We put in a lot of work leading up to that match. Yesterday we put in a lot of work to fix our mistakes, and it really paid off. We tried to fix everything we could. It was also a matter of mindset—this time, our mindset was different. I think everyone enjoyed playing, had fun with the process, and shared those emotions with each other. I think that’s the most important thing.
On switching to the rifleman role
I know Maka. He’s an excellent sniper, and I have a lot of respect for him as an AWP player. He’s really very good. As for me, I feel very comfortable in the role of a rifleman. They asked me to join the team, and I thought: “Basically, I can play as a rifleman, too.” So I just joined them and was confident that everything would work out.
On playing for GamerLegion
It was tough for me at GamerLegion. Honestly, I don’t even know exactly what happened. I think the pressure got to me. Everything was new. Before that, I’d only played in online tournaments, and then I found myself in major competitions—on a whole different level. Not exactly on the big stage, but you know what I mean. The difference was huge—just enormous. On top of that, I didn’t have much time. I think I just needed more time to figure out how it all worked for me specifically. After that, I started thinking only about what I could do better. I always try to think that way—constantly looking for ways to get stronger. I failed at GamerLegion, and I don’t want to fail again. That’s why I’m putting even more effort into this game now and trying to constantly improve myself.
Earlier, 3DMAX defeated paiN Gaming 2-0 in maps in the first round of the lower bracket of Stake Ranked Episode 3. Right now, Jeremy “Kursy” Gasta’s team is battling Gentle Mates for the right to stay in the tournament.
