NertZ on G2 Esports at the IEM Cologne Major 2026: “I’m confident we can beat any opponent.”

G2 Esports rifler Guy “NertZ” Ilyuz, in an interview at IEM Cologne Major 2026, reflected on his personal progress with the new team, assessed the “Samurai’s” current form, and shared his thoughts on M80’s gameplay.
On his progress
I think I’ve grown a lot as a player since joining G2. Before the tournament started, we had a boot camp where we worked really hard. Now I play with much more confidence on certain maps—it used to be hard for me to get used to the team’s playstyle. I’m happy to be here at the Major. I feel great.
On G2 Esports’ form
I’m confident we can beat any opponent. We’ve trained a lot and worked to improve our existing system. At this tournament, our team will showcase our Counter-Strike against any opponent, no matter what.
On M80
I’ve always thought M80 is an interesting team. They play very high-quality CS. I think on some maps, this team can give many big-name opponents a run for their money. I’ve always held M80 in high regard—they know how to play well. They always have something to surprise us with.
Yesterday, G2 Esports defeated BIG in the fourth round of the second stage of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 with a 2-0 map score. NertZ’s team secured a spot in the third stage of the tournament, the first matches of which will take place on June 11.
