nokeepeesh on Cheshir: “Nikita is the kind of person who understands and is ready to take on responsibility.”

Former Team Spirit psychologist Alexander “nokeepeesh” Kuznetsov described the personality of the organization’s CEO, Nikita “Cheshir” Chukalin, in a podcast on the club’s official YouTube channel, and also talked about what it’s like to work with esports players.

About Cheshir

Nikita is the kind of person who understands and is ready to take responsibility for absolutely everything that happens within the organization. I mean, I’m not even talking right now just about, how should I put it, sports achievements—you know, trophies, results, victories, and so on and so forth. Even minor issues—like, I don’t know, merchandise, or, say, non-core areas of esports, or, I don’t know, the athletes’ nutrition, or logistical processes, and so on and so forth.

On working with esports athletes

Well, it’s always important to me that I don’t just hand out some techniques or some material—in other words, as they say, I’m not the type to just talk the talk without walking the walk; that’s not my style. In other words, I want to be sure that what I’m offering the guys actually finds its place and that it ultimately leads to improved results and, well, ideally, to victories.

On the specifics of esports

In esports, training often takes place separately, let’s say. Yes, the players are sitting at home—well, yes, they’re all gathered in TeamSpeak, playing something, discussing things, but there isn’t really—well, I don’t know—that sense of cohesion or unity, exactly as it happens in traditional sports, especially team sports. So, let’s say there are certain habits, certain patterns, certain things that players might allow themselves to do in their personal space, but that they can’t do within the team. I mean, I don’t know, banging on the table, for example, or swearing loudly, or throwing something.

Earlier, Alexander “nokeepeesh” Kuznetsov explained why he decided to work in esports specifically, and also talked about his first conversation with Team Spirit CEO Nikita “Cheshir” Chukalin.
