Analyst Jakob “Pimp” Winneke shared his thoughts on the replacement of Álvaro “SunPayus” García with Artem “r1nkle” Moroz at G2 Esports and assessed the team’s updated roster.
On SunPayus’s move to G2 Esports’ bench
During this transfer window, G2 parted ways with SunPayus. I wouldn’t say he was bad, but the team needs a player capable of influencing the outcome of matches. G2 might have decided to cut him sooner, but there aren’t many snipers available on the market. I think that’s the same reason Liquid kept ultimate on their roster for so long.
About the Team Roster
G2’s current roster is really good. I believe in huNter—; he’s gradually improving as a captain. For his part, HeavyGod is a fantastic support, and MATYS is a pretty skilled player. I think NertZ still has a chance to get back to his best form under sAw’s leadership. However, I don’t understand the organization’s decision to bring in r1nkle as the sniper.
On the signing of r1nkle
I don’t consider r1nkle’s transfer an upgrade for the sniper position. He’s hardly stronger than SunPayus. Why didn’t G2 sign kl1m from their academy? He performed excellently while on loan at MIBR and even competed in the last two Majors. Did G2 make the right choice by letting SunPayus go in favor of r1nkle? To me, this decision doesn’t make much sense.
