Alex “Rainwaker” Petrov, the rifler for Luminosity Gaming’s CS2 roster, Petrov spoke in an interview on Stake Ranked Episode 4 about the challenges the roster faced after moving from Monte to their new club, shared the reasons behind the team’s improved results, and discussed the team’s goals and priorities for the season.
It was tough for us right from the start. We weren’t even supposed to play with lux at our debut tournament in China—it all happened at the last minute, so we didn’t have enough time to practice. Plus, we’re still a new team. Replacing a captain is different from reshuffling regular players, because an in-game leader needs much more time to establish their own style.
It was precisely the time we spent together that was the main reason our results improved. I can say the same about my personal form: the captain trusts me and gives me the space and freedom to bring my ideas to life. Now we just need to keep working. I don’t think the team has reached its peak—we’re capable of playing even better.
Our main goal at Logitech G Connect 2026 was to make the playoffs. We just wanted to play as many official matches as possible to get practice on certain maps, since the difference between those matches and regular practice sessions is huge. Our main long-term goal is the Major. I can’t say we’re too worried about not having any titles, although nobody likes to lose. The most important thing is to earn enough points to qualify for the season’s main championship.
Yesterday, Luminosity Gaming defeated B8 Esports in their debut match at Stake Ranked Episode 4 with a 2–0 map score in a best-of-3 series. Today, Alex “Rainwaker” Petrov’s team will face BIG in the upper bracket semifinals of the event’s group stage.
