REZ on the losses to BetBoom Team and Astralis at the IEM Cologne Major: “We did things we now regret”
GamerLegion rifler Fredrik “REZ” Sterner commented on the team’s poor start in the second stage of the tournament during an interview at the IEM Cologne Major 2026, discussed mistakes made in matches against BetBoom Team and Astralis, and shared his expectations for the match against B8 Esports in the elimination round.
On the elimination matches
Over the years with Ninjas in Pyjamas and GamerLegion, I’ve found myself in similar situations many times. So, I think we’re used to it. And I think that thanks to this experience, we’ll be able to handle it this time as well.
On the losses to BetBoom Team and Astralis
Obviously, we try not to think about them. Those were very tough games for us. And, basically, we did things we now regret. We made a lot of mistakes. We’re reviewing them, discussing them, analyzing them, and hoping that this won’t happen again.
On B8 Esports
They’re a very strong team, especially in bo1. After all, they literally crushed everyone in the first stage. And now they’ve had a rough start to the second. I think this is exactly the moment when we can beat them—that’s for sure. Obviously, both teams are down 0-2, and we really want to advance in this Major. Everyone is hungry for wins, and I think we’re in for a real battle.
Right now, GamerLegion is facing off against B8 Esports in the 0-2 bracket of the second stage of the IEM Cologne Major 2026. The losing team will be eliminated from the tournament, while the winner will have to win two more best-of-three series to advance to the third stage of the championship.
