In an interview at BLAST Open Porto 2026, G2 Esports coach Eetu “sAw” Sahah analyzed the reasons behind their loss to Team Spirit on Dust2 and discussed the team’s efforts to expand their map pool.
We had a good game plan, but we didn’t execute the first full buy-in the way we should have—there was some hesitation in our play. Team Spirit put pressure on us in the “mid,” we tried to respond to that, and as a result, we couldn’t control the “short,” which our opponent actively exploited. In the next round, we tried to force a fight, but ended up in a four-on-three situation, after which our economy took a serious hit. We decided to stake the plant site and play a retake if necessary, but that didn’t work out. That’s pretty much how the entire half went. As you said, we weren’t able to maintain control of the map.
We’ll be working on our map pool throughout the season. As you may have noticed, Inferno has become one of our strong maps this season and last. But of course, we need to expand our map pool. We struggled on Ancient, Anubis, and Dust2, although things went pretty well on Mirage. To perform successfully in a best-of-3 format and compete against strong teams, we need to feel more confident on a wider variety of maps. Right now, that’s one of our main goals.
Natus Vincere and G2 Esports are currently playing a knockout match at BLAST Open Porto 2026. The first map, Ancient, went to Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač’s team with a score of 13–6. Now the teams will continue their battle on Inferno.
