Commentator Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill spoke in the latest episode of the HLTV Confirmed podcast about FISSURE’s delay in paying out prize money and the working conditions for players at its events, and also reflected on the issues facing this tournament operator.
Teams and players who haven’t received payments from FISSURE should file a complaint with Valve regarding these individuals’ unethical conduct and ask Valve to take action. Of course, organizations decide for themselves which tournaments to attend, but if FISSURE hosts an event for which teams earn VRS points and then fails to pay out prize money, the whole situation turns into a real nightmare. Such tournaments directly impact a team’s chances of receiving invites to Majors. I believe Valve needs to monitor the actions of tournament operators.
Teams continue to travel to every FISSURE event. If the organizers provide hotel accommodations and cover airfare, why not participate? It’s appalling that tournament operators make big money off viewership but aren’t willing to pay out prize money.
I have a funny story related to FISSURE. I’ve never worked at their tournaments, but I’ve been told there was a ridiculous dress code—the organizers provided the cast with outfits for the broadcasts. Since there weren’t enough outfits to go around, many of them had to change their pants and shoes between broadcasts.
FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 — CS took place over a year ago, but the organizers still haven’t paid out the prize money to the teams. Nevertheless, most of the teams decided to attend the championship in Suzhou anyway.
If I’m not mistaken, these guys had planned to hold eight tournaments over the next two years, but then they simply canceled half of them. What will happen to the remaining events? Who’s actually behind FISSURE’s decisions? The company’s management recently laid off many of its employees. It’s total chaos there right now.
Earlier, analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields, on the Hot Take Point Made podcast, compared Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin to Danil “donk” Kryshkovtsov, discussed the main issues facing the Team Falcons rifler, and assessed his progress over the past year at the Tier 1 level.
