tabseN: “My main motivation is Counter-Strike.”

BIG’s CS2 rifler Johannes “tabseN” Vodarz shared his thoughts in an interview at the IEM Cologne Major 2026 following their elimination from the tournament, spoke about his teammates and team building, and discussed what motivates him to continue competing.
On his feelings after being eliminated from the tournament
We started the match very well today, but unfortunately, we couldn’t keep up the momentum. Our opponents, in turn, also played wonderfully—ultimately, B8 is an excellent team. It’s sad to admit, but in my opinion, we weren’t able to perform well on either Overpass or Dust2. There were a lot of close moments; the outcome could have been completely different, but this is Counter-Strike after all—the best teams win here.
About my teammates
I love these guys; it’s a lot of fun playing with them! In my eyes, they’re all amazing esports players. Of course, they still have a lot to learn, especially gr1ks, who is incredibly young. This is his first experience competing at this stage of a Major, and I’m very proud of how he’s developing and growing. I’m also proud to play under the leadership of blameF—he’s our team’s inspiration and simply an amazing captain. We’ll analyze our mistakes and learn from them; there are still plenty of events ahead. Losing here in Cologne is totally sucks, but the second half of the year is on the horizon, and we’ll prepare with all our might. I have guys like faveN on my team: I think he handles his tasks perfectly, and overall I can call him one of the best in his position. We also have JDC, who, in my opinion, can claim the title of one of the strongest players on the German national scene. Today we just couldn’t play at the level we’re actually capable of, but despite everything, I’m very proud of my teammates and my club.
On motivation
My main motivation is Counter-Strike. Everyone loves our discipline and comes here for it. Being in a team environment, enjoying the process, and feeling passionate about what I do—that’s what drives me. I really hope we can participate in many more different tournaments, not just the IEM series, and show everyone what BIG is truly capable of.
Earlier, BIG lost to B8 Esports in the second stage of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 with a score of 1-2 in a best-of-3 series. Johannes “tabseN” Vodarce’s team finished in 17th–19th place at the championship and earned $10,000 in prize money.
