Analyst Sam “Tech Girl” Wright discussed possible scenarios for FURIA following the departure of Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo in the latest episode of the Feed The Trolls podcast and assessed the team’s chances of competing for a Major trophy.
There’s a need to maintain some Brazilian flair, but you can’t just go out and bring in a Brazilian IGL because, first of all, they’re always in FalleN’s shadow. But second, I’d say that most Brazilian IGLs, with the exception of FalleN, won’t call plays in English. They’ve been calling plays in Portuguese for years. So this transition is pretty challenging, and they’ll have to come in and call plays in English for two players.
In a way, it makes sense to find a promising Brazilian rifler who’s a good shooter and then move YEKINDAR to the IGL role. Maybe, but I don’t see a team like that competing for trophies.
They can still compete. And I truly believe they still have the potential to remain among the contenders when we talk about who could lift the trophy at the Singapore Major. I think they’re still a team that’s being discussed as a contender.
Earlier on the Feed The Trolls podcast, analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields discussed FURIA’s prospects following Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s decision to retire and assessed the likelihood of the team returning to an all-Brazilian roster.
