On September 23, 2026, Valve released a major update for Counter-Strike 2 called “Rush Hour,” which introduced a new “Rush” mode, a hidden system for raising pet chickens, and a silent weapon reload feature.
According to statistics from the analytics service SteamDB, a surge in online activity occurred immediately after the release of the hidden features and the “Rush” mode, when the daily count reached 1,452,036 users. However, the game was unable to sustain that level, and the next day the graph showed a gradual decline. On the day after the patch was released, Thursday, September 24, the peak number of players on the servers was 1,374,192.
On the night of September 26, 2026, Valve released a technical update for Counter-Strike 2 aimed at fixing issues from the previous major patch. In this update, the developers adjusted the map textures in the new Rush mode, fixed the sound effects during slow weapon reloads, and added the ability to disable clan tags on custom servers.
