Thorin: “FURIA risks losing its status as the best Brazilian team fairly soon.”
Analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields assessed FURIA’s future in the latest episode of the Feed The Trolls podcast following Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo’s retirement and commented on the team’s possible return to an all-Brazilian roster.
On FURIA’s possible return to a Brazilian roster
If they end up having to go back to a Brazilian roster, all the players have already been snapped up. MIBR has strengthened its roster to keep insani from leaving. Legacy has assembled an even stronger roster. FURIA risks ceasing to be the best Brazilian team fairly soon. Legacy is hot on their heels. They’re already very close. MIBR is pretty good and might be just one player away from something even greater. I don’t know if you’ll be able to switch back to a Brazilian roster, because all the players you’d want to sign are already taken.
On a possible replacement for FalleN
The only IGL you can definitely bring back is, of course, arT. The guy who was on your team many years ago, because he has connections and he’s amazing. By the way, he’s gotten much better as an IGL, but then again, he’s on Legacy, so it won’t come cheap. And does he even want to leave if Legacy is better? Who knows?

After Team Liquid, people didn’t want this guy. He was considered something of a toxic asset for the team. He played for a few teams that flopped. Then he tried his hand at being an IGL, which didn’t go very well. And then Twistzz took the IGL role from him. So at that point, I can tell you: this guy would either have been doing nothing at all or playing for yet another Eastern European team. And then, out of the blue, he was given a chance.
On FalleN’s retirement
I really think that, in a way, this sets you up as a championship-level team. It means that even if you win the Singapore Major in the most dominant fashion in history, he’ll still retire. I know people like that kind of thing in movies. In sports, an ending like that is just terrible. If you win the world championship, you at least play in the next one. You know what I mean? Then, when you bomb the next one, that’s when you retire. That’s what anyone in sports would do. Sports aren’t movies.
