Data miner Avi “Thour” Thour discussed the decline in the number of Counter-Strike 2 players in 2026 on his personal X account. He noted that, on average, the game lost more players than it gained.
In 2026, the average monthly growth in the number of CS2 players was 9%, while the game lost approximately 23.5%, resulting in an overall net decline of 14.5%. Positive monthly growth was recorded only in January and February… What do you think could save CS2?
Earlier, Thour suggested that Valve bring back the map voting system to the active map pool in Counter-Strike 2. In his opinion, the community should decide for itself which maps remain in the Premier pool, rather than having the developers remove the least popular map each time.
