Twistzz on FaZe Clan: “We have a lot of young players eager to leave their legacy.”

FaZe Clan captain Russell “Twistzz” Van Dalken shared his thoughts in an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026 following the victory over BetBoom Team, discussed the reasons for their mid-game struggles, and talked about his role on the team.
On the victory over BetBoom Team
I’m glad we managed to pull off the win despite a string of losing rounds. We have players who can really step up in the most crucial moments—they played a decisive role in this match.
On losing nine rounds in a row
I think the situation was similar to the one we faced at BLAST Bounty. Our players performed well individually, but when it came to crucial rotations and quick communication, everyone started to lose their bearings. We gave up three rounds in a row and then lost our momentum on the attack. Maybe it was nerves. This is our first match since bootcamp.
On my role in FaZe Clan
I’ve missed a Major with Team Liquid before, and then went on to become captain. I have experience with situations like this. Now I’m bringing a lot of experience and passion for CS to the team. We have a lot of young players eager to leave their legacy. As much as I’d like to cement my legendary status, I want to help my teammates achieve the same level of success. We’ll keep moving forward together.
Earlier, FaZe Clan defeated BetBoom Team 13–11 in their debut match at the 2026 Esports World Cup. Thanks to this victory, Twistzz’s team advanced to the upper bracket semifinals of Group B, where they will face Legacy tomorrow.
