Twistzz on FaZe Clan’s CS2 roster: “I don’t set grandiose goals for the team”

FaZe Clan captain Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulken spoke in an interview at BLAST Bounty Summer 2026 about the team’s goals and current challenges, and also discussed the contributions of Jason “JBOEN” Bo Niels and Jakub “jcobbb” Pietruszewski.
On FaZe Clan’s future development
I don’t set grandiose goals for the team. Of course, every team that wants to establish itself in the top 10 strives to consistently make the tournament playoffs and pose a threat to the best rosters. We’ve seen this before when we were among the best. Right now we’re playing with a stand-in, so we can’t put on an incredible performance. Nevertheless, we’re consistent against other teams, and that’s what matters most to me.
On the team’s challenges
Right now, we have young players on the roster who are energetic and full of ideas, so I try to find a balance and listen to the teammates who excel at shooting. You’ve probably seen the problems we faced on Dust2. We had a lot of ideas, but we got punished in the middle of rounds, and our communication was chaotic. We need to work harder on our defense, since sometimes we leave gaps on the map and don’t cover them at all.
On the IGL role
I think some captains have trouble with the world’s best players because they have to deal with their personalities, ideas, and approaches to how they want to make an impact. Of course, every player wants to help the team in their own way. As for me, I’m more focused on making sure jcobbb or JBOEN are on the right track.
About JBOEN
I have no reason not to believe that he’ll become an excellent sniper. He has everything it takes, including the right mindset. We just need more practice and time to gel as a team. I need to understand exactly how a player like Jason plays in the middle of rounds, what picks he makes, and how he moves. And jcobbb needs to get more involved in team plays, using his aim and playstyle, since he’s not a classic entry player.
FaZe Clan proved stronger than EYEBALLERS in their debut match at BLAST Bounty Summer 2026. Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulk’s team closed out the first map, Mirage, with a score of 16–12, and Dust2 with a score of 13–8. As a result, Jesper “JW” Vexel’s team exited the tournament in 17th–32nd place.
