Valve has explained how the new rule works, which restricts VRS region changes prior to the distribution of invitations for PGL Major Singapore 2026.
According to the updated regulations, a team can only be assigned a regional affiliation if it has not appeared in the VRS rankings of another region during the previous three calendar months.
Valve clarified that the change will take effect when invitations for the PGL Major Singapore 2026 are distributed. It is also clarified that the three-month period is counted up to the date the Major invitations are issued, not up to the start of the tournament itself. However, this restriction does not apply to other events.
The developers stated that teams that change regions before the PGL Major Singapore 2026 will be eliminated from the race to qualify for the tournament unless they contact Valve and find a solution.
Previously, roster changes at Sashi Esport and BC.Game Esports—which allowed the teams to improve their chances of qualifying for the PGL Major Singapore 2026 through the Asian VRS ranking—sparked widespread discussion and criticism within the community.
