X5G7V on qw1nk1, xeedo, and kashl1d: “They’re showing their potential, and I’m really happy to see it.”

Daniil “X5G7V” Maryshev shared his thoughts in an interview on Stake Ranked Episode 3 after advancing to the championship grand final, commented on his teammates’ current form at the event, and discussed preparations for the matchup against HEROIC.

On his feelings after advancing to the event’s grand final

We played our first game here against Ninjas in Pyjamas. Usually, the debut at LAN tournaments is tough—everyone’s nervous and hasn’t gotten used to it yet—so we didn’t perform well back then. But after that, as I mentioned earlier, we started to find our rhythm and play better and better with each passing day. Today, I was sure our opponent would pick Nuke again, but we still lost on that map. On Mirage, it was pretty straightforward, despite falling behind in regulation and the subsequent overtime periods. I never doubted we’d win from the very start. The final map turned out to be interesting: for some reason, our opponents decided to keep Cache—a map we’d practiced on earlier—against us and not ban it, even though 3DMAX had made the exact same mistake before.

On my teammates’ progress and the team’s playstyle

First and foremost, I want to say that I’m very proud of my team, especially the young guys, who are performing incredibly well at this international LAN event. Of course, this isn’t Tier 1 level—they’re playing against teams from the top 30 and top 20, essentially on the Tier 2 scene. In any case, qw1nk1, xeedo, and kashl1d are playing great, and shalfey and I are trying to help them by securing map space and landing kills at the right moments. They’re showing their potential, and I’m really happy to see it.

On preparing for the match against HEROIC

To be honest, right now we’re just trying to find something to eat—some snacks—and drinking coffee. We basically don’t have time to prepare, so I’ll just try to figure out the upcoming veto and exactly how we should best approach the match against HEROIC. I don’t even know how to properly recover from the last match, so we’ll just try to give it our all and do everything we can to win.
