ATF on his opponents at BLAST Slam VIII: “First of all, I hope to crush them. That goes without saying.”
The players and coach of Team Yandex’s Dota 2 roster spoke in an interview at PGL Wallachia Season 9 about their victory in the grand final of the championship held in Bucharest.
On the victory
Malady: I’m really grateful that my teammates carried me.
[Question: “You had some pretty good games in the grand final too, but you’re still giving the credit to your teammates?”]
Of course. I’d like to single out my two main heroes—ATF and watson.
On being named Best Carry and the second map of the Grand Final
watson: [Do I feel like the best carry] right now? I don’t know—we’ll see. After all, Yatoro and Satanic didn’t play.
[Question: “The situation on the second map looked dangerous—how did you manage to get back into the game?”]
Ammar walked into the “triangle,” killed Lina, then they teleported out one by one, and we made a comeback. After that, the game was, essentially, easy.
On the tournament’s favorite match
CHIRA_JUNIOR: Probably against 1w. We battled them all last season. That series is [my favorite]. They’re our personal nemesis.
On playing for Yandex
[Question: “Do you still feel like a stand-in, like you did after making it to the playoffs?”]
ATF: I’ve settled in a bit better by now, but the real test is yet to come. After this tournament, there will be another one [Referring to BLAST Slam VIII. — Ed.]. <...>
[Question: “Do you have a message for the teams that decided to skip the tournament and are watching it from home—teams you’ll be facing soon?”]
First of all, I hope to crush them. That goes without saying. I also hope that at every tournament, we’ll be a threat to the other teams. We’ll wipe everyone out, I’ll break my record with Team Falcons, and we at Yandex will come out on top.
BLAST Slam VIII kicks off this Tuesday, September 29. The group stage of the championship will take place online, and the playoffs will be held in Malta. Unlike the previous tournament in the series, the prize pool has been reduced to $750,000. The roster of participants will include more well-known clubs than at PGL Wallachia Season 9, including Team Spirit, PARIVISION, and Team Liquid.
