Cap on those complaining about the lack of events in Dota 2: “I think their anger is justified”

Commentators Austin “Cap” Walsh and Avery “SVG” Silverman discussed the progress of the South American region, the lack of major events in Dota 2, and PARIVISION’s adaptation to their new offlaner on the Not For Broadcast podcast.
On South American teams
SVG: I think South America is on the rise right now, oddly enough. This region’s trajectory has improved the most over the past year, while many other regions have either been treading water or losing ground. I don’t know what they’re cooking up, but it’s something spicy.
Cap: Over the past two years, we’ve gone from South American teams being a vague threat but unable to win a tournament to them actually being able to do so now. And it’s not just one South American team. For a long time, there was only one, but now there are two. I’m not sure if I believe PlayTime can win tournaments, but I believe in LGD.
SVG: If they’re on a roll and get good matchups—they can do it. I don’t think it’s very likely, but they’re definitely a threat to make the top 6. That’s good. In South America, there are two strong teams and another half with Parker. That’s pretty good.
About 9Class
Cap: I think PARIVISION’s success is partly because 9Class isn’t as narrowly specialized a player as he was a year or two ago. Before, the main problem was that DM allowed him to play his own style, and when DM was removed, the question arose: would 9Class be able to play in a way that didn’t put his offlaner in a bad spot? Or would, say, Noticed be able to take on that sacrificial role? We see that PARIVISION has maintained its playstyle.
I still believe that 9Class performs best on those weird heroes who usually don’t win you the lane and pull off strange antics on the map. But he’s expanded his hero pool, and now he looks much more consistent in PARIVISION.
On the lack of major events
Cap: Reddit immediately blew up, with a bunch of angry people asking, “Where’s the content? Where’s the content?” I think their anger is justified. Considering that it’s been about 570 days since the release of the last Crownfall act. So it’s been quite a while since we’ve had any full-fledged content.
SVG: Well, that’s not entirely fair. There was a crossover with Monster Hunter.
Cap: That’s not content.
SVG: There was hunting, there was something. It wasn’t exactly zero content.
Cap: In my opinion, that’s just a slightly embellished version of “Quartero’s Curiosities.”
SVG: I’m not defending Valve on this one. I’m just saying it’s not exactly zero. But I agree, these are tough times for content lovers. Although I always come back to the question: how many people actually enjoy the content, and how many are just playing ranked mode? I’m not trying to defend anyone, because what has Valve done for the ranking system? Not much, either. That said, I’m sure they’re doing something. It’s not like they’re doing nothing.
Earlier, Cap mentioned that players finishing last at The International with a low prize pool receive less for it than the employees of the English-language studio covering the year’s main tournament.
