On item builds
I found a build that works for me in this patch
Two starting build paths (What to buy first?)
- Helm of the Dominator — Against Undying, Anti-Mage, Lifestealer, Juggernaut, Medusa, etc.
- Arcane Boots—I usually go for Arcane Boots, but since there are some tough matchups where a HP Renegade is needed, I skip them. Arcane Boots are a must-have against ranged carries; you just constantly throw axes at the carry. He’ll either leave the lane or farm up a lot of resources
Helm of the Overlord - Base item. With it, we mainly break the T1 in mid and push the lane where the enemy carry is (difficult at high ranks, since the mid laner or offlaner usually farms the second tower). In many games, we manage to break T2 before the 20-minute
mark. Overwhelming Blink - We take this because it makes it easier to set up kills and provides mobility
. Black King Bar - It’s impossible to play Dota in today’s meta
without this item. Aghanim’s Shard - We upgrade to the DMJ
. Then, depending on the situation:
- Bloodthorn - To burst down a hero
- Manta Style - If you need extra purge + Nice with the level 20 talent
- Assault Cuirass - If there’s a lot of physical damage against us
- Nullifier - Against RingMaster’s Box, for example
About Talents
Talents:
- Level 10 - Damage to axes. Armor is provided by the Helm of the Overlord
- Level 15 - Use of Ror. One of the best talents
- Level 20 - HP for all units + self
- Level 25 - Good power spike. Since the Refresher was killed and Beastmaster can’t play without two BKBs. Blink in, cast Ror, take down heroes with BKBs active, then back off and just spam axes
Earlier, streamer Vladlen “Mariachi” Grebenkov put together a guide on playing Lone Druid in the current meta, breaking down the starting buy, core items, suitable and unfavorable opponents, the laning phase, and a game plan.
