Pibbles Corp support Romel Augusto “Mjz” Quinteros Rojas analyzed Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potoraka’s game for Team Liquid on his personal YouTube channel, highlighting his techniques for stopping minions, stealthy ganks, and gathering intelligence on opponents while farming.
This is just a small detail. You can do it this way if you want. I’ve seen Topson do this: you need to lock the camera onto your hero so all you have to do is click on the map. The camera follows the hero, and all he has to do is control his movement with the mouse. This is very helpful when you need to stop creeps.
He pushes mid very quickly, even using Fissure. He pushes and then leaves. After he’s pushed a wave, he doesn’t go straight down. First, he goes in another direction, and only then does he head down.
How does this look from the opponent’s perspective? If you’re playing Earth Spirit, you see Earthshaker and think, “Okay, he’s moving back. Maybe he’s going into the jungle.” And then you don’t see him anymore. In other words, you don’t realize he’s gone south. Again, it’s a very small detail, but in the end, it makes a big difference.
He’s farming the jungle but keeps checking the map. He checks the top lane, checks mid. He doesn’t stand AFK, staring at the jungle creeps. He keeps farming but moves the camera to stay aware of what’s happening. Maybe he even moves it too often.
It’s good that he has all this information: now he knows where everyone is and that no one is going to teleport right up on him. That’s why he can push forward and try to quickly push the lane, at least to apply some pressure there, since he can’t coordinate with the team.
Malr1ne made his debut for Team Liquid at PARI UNIVERSE by FISSURE. The mid laner has already played two matches for Team Liquid: a 2-0 win against 1w Team and a 0-2 loss against GamerLegion.
