Nightfall on BetBoom Team: “People were already putting too much pressure on each other; it wasn’t that easy to play”

Aurora Gaming’s carry, Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko, commented on the victory over Team Falcons at BLAST Slam VII in an interview with OFFSTAGE and spoke about the issues that arose within the BetBoom Team roster.
On the victory over Falcons at BLAST VII
We beat Falcons today, but they were playing with SumaiL, so I’m not too thrilled. We played some games poorly rather than well, so I’m not particularly [satisfied]. Overall, we won—that’ll do.
On feeling pressure from the star power of BetBoom Team’s players
To what extent was it the community itself or people’s super-high expectations of us—that we have to come in and beat everyone—that set the bar so high? That bar is normal, but here it’s more about the dynamics within the team, among yourselves. You shouldn’t put pressure on your teammates.
[Question: “Many people said there was too much pressure on you. Did you feel that yourself?”]
Specifically from the community and so on—not really; it’s more within the team itself. I’d say there was an over-motivation to win among practically everyone, and that alone made it harder to win.
On tuning out the community’s expectations
When the game starts, you don’t really think about all that. You just think about how to win. Otherwise—just listen to music on the way to the game; try to focus on the important things.
On BB Team’s final period and the joy of Dota
By the end of our run with MieRo, our relationship with TORONTOTOKYO had already soured. There’s no point in blaming anyone; it was everyone’s fault. People were already putting too much pressure on each other; it wasn’t easy to play. Either way, I think I always got a kick out of Dota.
Earlier, Nightfall explained what led to the change in his playstyle. “I think modern Dota isn’t about just farming the whole game and playing like K1 anymore,” the Aurora Gaming carry shared his thoughts.
