Natus Vincere support player Stanislav “Riddys” Mitroshkin explained in an interview at PGL Wallachia Season 9 what allowed the team to stay calm during the decisive map of the lower bracket finals, and also reflected on their loss to LGD Gaming in the upper bracket.
We knew we had very good heroes and that we could level up better as the game went on. We tried to stay calm and not let ourselves get nervous, which allowed us to easily relax and reset.
On Wyvern, the main thing was not to mess up the ultimate. I like to save it until the very end. In the end, I let the team down in a few fights, but the guys carried me through. As they say, the fifth position is the easiest. I’m glad I didn’t mess things up, and that’s enough. We won; I’m happy for myself, for the team, and we’re all very happy.
We were a little unlucky. In that third game, we were dominating too, but we made a few chaotic decisions and lost. We knew we were capable of beating them, and Cy had been preparing excellently over the last three days. I’d say that in all of our recent games [leading up to the grand final], we had the advantage in the draft. That’s very satisfying.
Natus Vincere suffered a defeat at the hands of LGD Gaming in the upper bracket, but after that, they only lost in the grand final of PGL Wallachia Season 9—and they also got their revenge against the Chinese club in the lower bracket final. Next, the team will compete at BLAST SLAM VIII—it qualified for the tournament through the European qualifiers.
