I think Tormentor is a concept that will continue to be refined and changed in some form. Since its release, in many subsequent patches, the developers have tweaked its stats, changed its faction, or adjusted its drop. Right now, it’s certainly not as spectacular a target as Roshan, but it’s still highly sought-after and easily accessible (which may be part of the problem—and why Tormentor is being buffed with every patch).
I wanted to remind you that these thoughts aren’t unfounded. For example, in 2025, with the 7.38 release, they added a different drop—`item_miniboss_minion_summoner`—instead of the Shard. It was an item with 4 charges that allowed a hero to bind themselves to a structure of their choice for 20 seconds. The selected structure received +40% of its max HP as a barrier, and the hero received +15%. The shield automatically regenerates if it hasn’t taken damage in the last 1.5 seconds. Both the structure and the hero reflect 40% of the damage back at the attackers. This concept wasn’t the only option, as the name suggests.
And in March of this year, another passive ability, Fortification, was added to the Tormentor. For every Tier 1 turret on the side where the Tormentor is located, damage dealt to it is reduced by X%.
It would be interesting to see some kind of rework or bonuses, since this is a super-important objective, but fights rarely happen there—it gets taken down very quickly. There are even more fights over the Vision Ward runes, lol.
Earlier, sikle summarized the match durations at The International 2026, commented on the need to speed up the gameplay, and discussed the most popular heroes of the tournament.
