Esports event host Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, in an interview with Hotspawn, jokingly called Counter-Strike 2 a “game for idiots,” suggested adding a draft phase where players would select and ban weapons before a match, and also complained about the changes to Techies in Dota 2.
Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho was the worst. We “banned” him for many reasons. <...> bOne7, I hate you! Don’t ever come back.
I’m a big fan of preserving hero lives in Dota 2. My son, Techies, was killed and replaced with a character for the dumbest people on the planet. No hero in Dota should be killed. IceFrog doesn’t get that anymore; they keep making Dota less painful, but we’re masochists—we want to feel the pain. That’s why we play Dota 2 instead of League of Legends. If we were stupid, we’d play VALORANT or some other forgotten Riot project that the company doesn’t care about. We specifically want to feel sad.
Anyway, no one needs to be killed... The answer is Nature’s Prophet—this hero doesn’t deserve to exist. He teleports using an ability that’s been unfair since the moment it was introduced.
Weapons should be selected during the draft. It shouldn’t be possible to just buy them. We need a 15-minute draft where players discuss the power of the AWP and take turns selecting and banning weapons. Plus, this phase should last three times longer than the entire series. That would be really cool.
The game is designed for dummies. It took me 10 minutes to figure it out. I’m not an idiot—I don’t play VALORANT, after all. But I think it’s cool; Dota should be made “simpler.”
Originally, Techie’s role was to passively mine the approaches to the base and areas where enemy heroes might pass through. This playstyle was criticized for not fitting the usual Dota 2 gameplay template, so a few years ago the developers reworked the character, making him a more active participant in team fights.
Previously, SirActionSlacks criticized the Trove of Terror for deviating from the game’s lore and for the high cost of Arcana sets. At the same time, Kanner acknowledged that the chest would generate significant revenue for the developers but urged the community to voice their disagreement with this approach.
