Team Spirit’s gold laner Anton “Hiko” Pak shared his thoughts on advancing to the Grand Final and discussed the team’s training in an interview at the MLBB Continental Championships Season 8.
Well, honestly, nothing special. Just a little bit of frustration in the sense that we couldn’t get a proper start with the re-farm. Those were the only emotions I felt during this game, this series, and after this series. Other than that, well, I didn’t really have any strong impressions because it was pretty easy.
Well, I wouldn’t say everything is exactly perfect for us. A lot of work goes into preparing for drafts, sometimes for gameplay, but not always. But overall, a lot of work is put in, and it pays off. So from the outside, it looks like everything comes very easily to us, but in reality, that’s not the case. There’s a lot of painstaking work behind the monitors and behind this game, and a lot of time is spent discussing drafts and so on. So a tremendous amount of work has been done. So, about practice matches. During the playoffs themselves, we obviously don’t play them, because we’re already prepared—we know all our heroes and so on. The only practice matches were before the playoffs. We were preparing, looking for the best heroes, and practicing certain drafts. And, by the way, thanks to those practice matches, we actually know Aurevia Team’s best picks pretty well, so it was pretty easy for us to figure them out.
Well, I don’t know about everyone else, but most people just watch the MPL Philippines—though not all the time. They skip Indonesia, they skip Malaysia. I recently watched a match between the Yangon Galacticos and—I don’t remember the exact name of the team—but it turned out to be the top-ranked team against the second-ranked team. I watched for a bit and realized that the meta is different there, and we have a slightly different meta in our region. Well, generally speaking, who do I follow on Gold—specifically, which player? Yeah, I think I follow pretty much everyone. So, for example, in the MPL Philippines, I watch how Super Marco plays, or maybe Savero, and so on. I just keep an eye on everyone, but there isn’t any one specific player I’m following. I just keep a close eye on everyone—how they move, what they’re picking, how the lanes are set up, and so on.
Team Spirit defeated Aurevia Team in the upper bracket final of the MLBB Continental Championships Season 8 and advanced to the competition’s grand final, which will take place on October 31 in Moscow.
