Team Spirit’s Mafeos “Kid Bomba” In an interview with Danil “Wizer” Schneider, Hatzilakos reflected on Marcel’s rebalance and its relevance, and speculated on whether Chichi and Lucas would be picked for the experience lane.
On the reasons for drafting Marcel after his nerfs
Because you can still use your ultimate on backline heroes who want to deal damage during an Atlas initiation, for example. You just counter the initiation very well.
No, it’s still viable. If you’re playing against a counter-pick right now, it’ll be much more unpleasant for you than it used to be. But he might just be a first-three pick because he’s easy to counter-pick in the first three picks, but you should still respect-ban him at levels 4–5, or pick him at level 3 so they don’t immediately counter-pick your Marcel, because if they pick a control hero against Marcel right now—it’ll be tough.
About Chichi
I think he’s a decent hero, but still… Right now, all kinds of Barats and Uranuses are running on EXP; against Uranus or Esma, you have a weak lineup with Chichi, so you don’t really want to farm for two or three slots. What else? Minotaur. Against Minotaurs and Beleriks of all kinds, it’s probably a good matchup—the question is how well you can capitalize on that matchup to keep winning the game. If you can dominate the lane so much that you can win the game, then that’s fine.
But, probably, if you pick Chichi—and she can actually afford to do that—you can ban her at 4 or 5. If you pick her at 3, you’re missing out on the chance to get a strong mid-lane trio with your first three picks. So it’s hard to build a draft around all of this; you need to pull off some kind of perfect draft where you have a strong mid with Chichi, plus a fierce tank on roam, so that everything falls into place perfectly for her.
Well, the hero does have potential, yes. We’ll see if they pick him. There’s actually a guy in MPL Indonesia who picks Lucas and Aulus and really enjoys it. I don’t get it either, but...
On the likely appearance of Lucas in the experience lane
Maybe he’ll be on the experience lane. I just can’t—I don’t know how to picture it. What are you going to do at objectives, or how are you going to dominate the lane, or what kind of impact will you have on the game? Take Belerik—he has a flick, full imbalance; it’s all clear when you pick him for the experience lane. Just use the flick on a structure and that’s it. Carmilla is an unkillable *** [thing] on the first Turtle. Barats is also an unbalanced initiation, and Uranus is also an unkillable *** [thing]. Esme... Esme is usually picked in win-or-go-home matchups, so Esme is also very strong; she dances around a lot on Turtle, and she’s easy to get started with. You can just charge up your ult from the bushes there—that’s all there is to it.
I can’t imagine how Lucas would play in setups like that. The fact that they’re picking him in Indonesia is cool, awesome… That’s just standard practice in Indonesia—anything can happen there sometimes.
