Selangor Red Giants coach Kok Sing “OzoraVeki” Poon discussed the loss to ONIC in the semifinals of the group stage of the championship during a post-match interview with the organizers of the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 and explained why the team had replaced their jungler.
On the loss to ONIC
I think what happened in the match against ONIC... We were very confident, but we still couldn’t close out the first round in our favor. Our experiments with pick selections didn’t pay off; we couldn’t keep up with the meta and had to adapt. On the second map, the same thing probably happened. It was very difficult.
On the reasons for the loss
When it comes to the big stage, a positive mindset becomes incredibly important. Our players remained in good spirits even after the first loss. But in the second round, it became clear that our strategy wasn’t working. That was the main reason for the loss.
On replacing Sekys with Unii
We wanted to play this tournament with Sekys. At first, everything was going well, but then we started running into various difficulties—in practice and in matches. Yesterday, we decided to try replacing Sekys with Unii, since our substitute player is very talented.
Then our team wanted to see how far we could go with Unii. He did a great job. Despite the lineup changes, I still believe that both of our junglers are amazing players.
On Next Steps
When I meet with my players, I’ll tell them that I’m incredibly proud of them. Of course, we have long discussions ahead of us on a wide range of topics, but this team is my extended family. We care for one another; we love one another.

Selangor Red Giants lost their match against ONIC in the Group B lower bracket semifinals with a score of 0–2 and were eliminated from MSC 2026. The team, led by OzoraVeki, finished in 9th–12th place and earned $65,000 in prize money.
