Sanford on KarlTzy: “He’s the kind of person who will only listen when what you’re saying makes sense.”
Team Liquid PH players Sanford Marin “Sanford” Vinuya and Alston “Sanji” Pabico appeared on the 8G podcast on the Wolf Casts YouTube channel. The esports players discussed the hard work of coaches Aeon and SN4P, reflected on their communication with jungler KarlTzy, and praised roamer Jaypee’s gameplay.
On the coaches’ work
Sanford: Coaches SN4P and Aeon are truly amazing people. They approach their work with passion and discipline. Thanks to them, we prepare thoroughly for scrims and tournament matches.
Aeon always tries to find solutions to the problems our team faces and get to the root of the issue. He doesn’t dwell on common mistakes that might happen by accident, and he won’t point them out just to embarrass a player. Instead, Aeon tries to understand how we could have improved our performance.
Sanji: Yeah, that’s what surprised me about him.
Sanford: And he conveys information in a way that isn’t offensive. No accusations.
Sanji: After all, he was a player himself and understands what it’s like.
Sanford: Yes. Aeon explains his reasoning to us, which helps us understand the soundness of his judgments.
On his relationship with KarlTzy
Sanford: You know, it’s quite possible that winning so many tournaments can give you a kind of tunnel vision, causing you to lose sight of your work ethic—which still needs some work. And if you focus on that, it’s entirely possible to continue dominating the pro scene. This can happen not only in our sport but in others as well—for example, with basketball player Kobe Bryant or League of Legends player Faker. Despite their titles, these people maintain their work ethic and passion. There’s always room for improvement; there’s always room to grow.
As for KarlTzy, when talking to him, something a bit off might slip out now and then, but he always tries to understand the person he’s talking to. He’s the kind of person who will only listen when what you’re saying makes sense. For the most part, he doesn’t waste time on people who, in his opinion, are talking nonsense. Maybe that’s exactly why Aeon and SN4P have earned his respect. When they talk to KarlTzy, he listens to them carefully.
About the roamer Jaypee
Sanford: In my opinion, Jaypee is in the top 1% of the top 1% of players. No one plays like Jaypee. The way he makes sacrifices, the way he approaches the game. His performances at Hilos, Gatchotkache… He does so much. Jaypee is a unique player.
