Selfdestruct criticized Victory Song Gamers’ performance at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026

Geltek Cyber Team analyst Denis “Selfdestruct” Merkulov spoke on his personal Telegram channel about his work within the team, discussed the need for balance in the training process, and assessed Victory Song Gamers’ performance at the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026.
On working at Geltek Cyber Team
My clear focus is to prepare for games as an analyst, because I used to prepare for teams at Lady MVP... Now on MWI, I just watch the games and say, “This, that, and the other. Here’s this theme, that theme, and another theme. You can exploit this here; you need to respect that here.” And then [together with Ospreay] we build our draft around our strengths, brainstorm all kinds of ideas, and after that we have a clear picture of what’s happening on your screen.
On the training process
You can mindlessly play 15,000 hours of practice matches, and it won’t do you any good at all. There has to be a balance here. I believe there needs to be a balance in terms of time allocation—you should play about 4 or 6 hours of practice and spend the rest of the time on what you might call “competitive education.” At the very least, you need to fully understand what teams do in the first six minutes.
On Victory Song Gamers’ performance at MSC 2026
To be honest, it didn’t look like a team. It looked like a mix where the mid laner only plays one champion, and they’re trying to build a strategy around that, but nothing’s working out for them. Right now, the meta revolves heavily around how you play triple mid. If you have a weak player in your triple mid, it’s *** [damn] hard to play the game. It doesn’t matter how incredibly talented your side laners are—like Carvi and JM—because they simply won’t be allowed to play the game. ...> Of course, I don’t want to be a hater, but I believe that Dikson’s weak hero pool and the low level of mid-lane play—specifically from the trio of Boro, Dikson, and MarkTzy—contributed to the loss at the event.
Earlier, Selfdestruct thanked the community for organizing practice matches with Geltek Cyber Team and noted that the team’s players were able to prepare for their upcoming matches at the MLBB Women’s International 2026.
